Assignment 1 - Technical Drawing
Week 01: Basic Tracing Techniques
In our first week, Mr. Daniel guided us through the fundamentals of Adobe Illustrator. We started with simple tracing exercises and experimented with different strokes, fonts, and colors. One of the key tasks was tracing a sweater, which Mr. Daniel demonstrated in class. This exercise introduced us to basic operations in Adobe Illustrator, such as using the tracing tool, modifying text and fonts, adjusting lines and strokes, and applying fill and stroke colors.
Our assignment for the week was to create 48 shapes, applying various modifications like changing normal strokes to dashed lines or other variations.

Week 02: Round Neck/Crew Neck Tee - Male and Female, Introduction to Basic Clipping Mask Techniques
In the second week, we focused on tracing round neck/crew neck sweaters for practice. We learned how to render clothing in grey tones to elaborate on layers, apply ribbing strokes to collars and sleeves using a clipping mask, and explore draping and folding strokes with style. Additionally, we used the mirror/reflection technique to ensure symmetry in our designs.
We were introduced to clipping mask techniques, particularly for creating lace parts on undergarments. Our task was to trace both male and female undergarments, front and back. We applied our tracing skills to trace rash guards for men and corsetry for women's undergarments. Key steps included tracing the base according to the panels, applying a clipping mask for fabrics and laces, adding strokes for fabric draping and folding, and using the ellipse tool and pathfinder for corset hooks.

Week 03: Fashion Technical Drawing Back View
This week's assignment involved tracing sportswear for both males and females. We applied techniques from previous lessons, such as rendering in grey tones, adding strokes to collars and sleeves, exploring drape and fold strokes, and using the mirror/reflect tool. Additionally, we learned how to create zippers by creating two lines of stroke, changing them to dashed lines, adjusting to a zigzag, outlining the stroke, and drawing a rectangle as the base.

Introduction to Various Types of Buttonholes
On this week, we also started to focused on tracing formal wear, including blazers, trousers/skirts, and button-up shirts for both men and women. We learned to create different types of buttonholes using several ellipse shapes grouped together and apply outline stroke to maintain the buttons' strokes. This way, the strokes will not change even if we change the buttons size. Mr. Daniel taught us how to create blazer buttons as well as shirt buttons.

Week 04: Various Effects in Adobe Illustrator
On this week, we explored how to do fabric rendering and creating shadow effects on attire. We created six variations of fabric renderings for both men and women by collaging fabric images. This is to ensure that the fabric patterns are not too big and realistic.

Assignment 2 - Presentation Board
For this assignment, we focused on placing our fabricated blazers on models. Mr. Daniel guided us through the process of editing model images (using photoshop) by dividing them into several sections: head to chest, arms, legs, and shoes. This segmentation allowed for precise fitting of the blazers we had rendered in previous classes.
We created representations for both men and women of different ethnicities, specifically Asian, White, and Black. This approach ensured a diverse and inclusive presentation of our designs. To make it more realistic, we learned how to add drop shadows to our images. This tool is on the 'Effect' section in AI, selecting 'Stylize,' and then 'Drop Shadow.' Mr. Daniel instructed us to use the multiply option and set the opacity to 55% for a subtle yet effective shadow.
In addition to fitting the blazers onto the models, Mr. Daniel reviewed our work and gave us feedbacks. For example, he explained the importance of correct body proportions, that the head to waist should be approximately two-thirds of the leg length. This feedback was helpful in refining our final images.

6. Asian Female Models
After finish with all models, we are required to produce fashion leaflets to showcase our rendered blazers on the edited model images. The goal was to create a fashionable presentation that highlighted the detailed parts of the blazers, as well as trousers, skirts, and blouses. This project not only tested our technical skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop but also our ability to present our designs in a professional and visually appealing manner.
I created 12 fashion leaflets with 2 different templates. I apply the leaflets to 6 male models and 6 female models.

Lastly, we are instructed to create styling board and customer profile to complete along with the presentation boards. Below are styling board and customer profile that I did.

Reflection
Throughout this semester, I have gained a solid foundation in digital illustration, especially in using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Each assignment built upon the previous one, allowing me to develop my skill set in tracing, rendering, and applying various effects to fashion garments. The hands-on experience and feedback from Mr. Daniel were invaluable, it helped me refine my techniques and achieve a professional finish. This journey has been very challenging for me, and I feel that these skills are very important for me in the future. I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Daniel for guiding me throughout this semester. Thank you.
