Assignment 2 - Initiating Final Product Line
In this assignment, we started exploring our final adaptive clothing product line through sampling and pattern-making. We are required to confirm the product direction with toile samples. We tried different techniques and design details, finalizing the product line through discussions. Additionally, we continued using CLO3D to explore various design details. We had to submit a final garment with detailed design and fabrications, which didn’t necessarily have to be related to our adaptive clothing project.
- Zips (along with adjustments of trims as teeth and pullers)
- Topstitching details
- Fabrications and textures
- Binding, piping and elastics.
Creating the Top
- Pattern Drafting:
- I started by drawing the pattern from scratch, creating a basic tank top, and unfolding the pattern. I copied the pattern for the front and back.
- I created a line to cut off one sleeve, adjusted the line, and removed the unwanted parts.
- Adding Ruffles:
- I created a rectangular shape and added arrangement points to create a smooth curve.
- I made two layers of ruffles and stitched them onto the armhole.
- Finishing Touches:
- I added a zipper on the side, editing the zipper teeth and puller to create an invisible zipper.
- I also added piping on the neckline and binding for the lower part of the top.
Creating the Skirt
- Pattern Drafting:
- I started with a basic skirt pattern block and stitched the sides together.
- Elastic Waistband:
- I created three rectangular shapes for the waistband: one for the elastic band and two for the outer and inner parts of the waistband.
- Adding internal lines, making them elastic using property editor.
- I stitched all three layers of the elastic waistband onto the skirt, along with the internal lines, creating an elastic band.
- Adjustments:
- I adjusted various properties such as width, particle distance, and topstitching details for the skirt hem.
- Fabrication:
- I added a leather fabric texture to both the top and skirt, adjusted the color, intensity, desaturation, reflection, and other properties.
This assignment allowed me to delve deeper into CLO3D and enhance my digital pattern-making skills. It was a challenging but rewarding process that improved my understanding of garment construction and finishing details.
