In this blog, I'm thrilled to share my weekly experiences from my internship at Rey Manlyuomo, a prominent suit company. I'll be documenting my insights and challenges through the internship.

Rey ManlyUomo ensures that every client experiences the satisfaction of owning a customized crafted piece of wearable art for their special moments.
For this internship, I am scheduled to work from Monday to Friday (10 am to 6 pm). I was assigned to several work areas, which are fittings & alterations, office management, social media, assisting shoots, event marketing, customer service, and quality control.
WEEK 1
[1 January - 5 January]
On the first week, I was introduced to the company's profile and how they work in every departments. First task, I was assigned to sort out fabric samples to be shown to clients. I learned various types of fabrics that they use to produce suits, start from the basic materials to premium ones, their wedding packages and non-package. I also learned how to ask clients what type of suits they're looking for and give them suggestions according to the client's wedding theme. There are various types of suits that Rey ManlyUomo offers, which are classic formal wear, tuxedo, double breasted, casual, changsan (traditional Chinese men's wear), etc. On this week I was also assigned to assist on fittings, do some hand sewing like shorten pants and sew buttons.
Since the company was preparing a fashion show on GRWE (Grand Royal Wedding Expo), I was assigned to help steam, fold, and pack the suits according to the model list. On this wedding expo, the designer decided to use top MCs (master of ceremony) from Bandung & Jakarta to model the runway. I assist designer on meetings and fittings with the MCs (models). It was a great opportunity and experience to meet people from this industry and work with them.
On the last day of the week, I was assigned to create an instagram story to be promoted before the event starts. I was also assigned to edit a pricelist brochure with the team for the wedding expo and created a barcode for softcopy pricelist. The pricelist brochure and barcode pic will be printed and given to people in GRWE.

After the garments are fixed and ready, I sent the fitting pics to the model choreographer as well as the event organizer. Last day before GRWE, I help to steam and pack the garments for the next day.
The wedding expo was held for 3 days. I was scheduled to work from 12 to 10 pm on those days. On the first day I was assigned to do marketing (give brochures, explain the wedding package to clients, assist designer on dealings) and prepare garments and props for runway on day 2.

During my internship at the suit company, I faced some tough situations that taught me a lot. One big challenge was dealing with different kinds of clients during fittings. Some were easygoing, others not so much. It was hard to stay patient and keep in touch with them throughout the fittings, but it was crucial for making sure they were happy with their suits. I adapt quickly with the team, but getting used to company rules and what was expected of me took some time. I had to handle lots of tasks at once, like helping clients with fittings, doing paperwork, and creating invoices. But from all this, I learned a ton. I got better at multitasking and managing my time. I also picked up skills in marketing, learned about different kinds of suits, and understood how they're made.
Looking back on my time as an intern at Rey ManlyUomo, I'm grateful for all the lessons I've learned and how much I've grown. Even though I faced some challenges, I’ve got to learn how a fashion business works. Since i was assigned in several areas, I got to learn the company procedures, from conception to personalized fittings and garment packing. Mostly, I spend a lot of time at Rey ManlyUomo learning about business and fashion in wedding industry, which I believe is going to be very useful for my future career. Facing different types of people and handling tasks at once taught me how to be confident, stay organized and work efficiently. While learning about different parts of the business, like marketing and customer service, gave me useful skills for the future. In conclusion, this internship has been a big part of my journey toward my career goals, and I'm excited to keep learning and growing from here.
