Sense of Place

For this second project, we have to make a design about our favorite/comfort place. For me, thrift shop is one of my favorite place to visit because I love shopping and mostly thrift shops are very aesthetic. I really like the way they design their store and the feeling when I get nice clothes from there because they only have one for every single items. So it feels different compare to buying clothes in normal stores that have bunch of stocks. Other than second hand clothes, thrift stores also sell many other items like fancy storages, accessories, vintage and antic stuffs, etc.

Idea Exploration and Description

Some of this pictures are taken by me when I visited one of the thrift store at Taman Paramount. There are also some references that I took from pinterest. When I saw these pics, I planned to make a collage by cropping and combining the images, then adding some drawing and text to finish it. I wanted to make a street style look, but also vintage at the same time, so I combined these 2 moods into one collage.

Final Outcome

This is the final collage that I have made after cropped the pictures and put them into one collage.

Feedback and Reflection

From the consultation with the lecturer, she said that I need to be careful on choosing the colors. Because it is a collage, the colors must be match with each other. Especially when I want to combine 2 different theme. But because I didn’t make a big collage, it was easier for me to done this assignment. From this assignment, I learnt how to find pictures that can match and can be combine to be a collage. I also learnt how to put each of the pictures in the best position so the collage is balance and look nice. Even though my final outcome is  still not perfect, I learn something new from this project and i’m willing to learn more and improve my skills.
