Analysis

For this final project, we must make an artwork about inequality. I decided to use one of Zootopia movie clip and combine it as one design.

Idea Exploration and Description

Zootopia is one of my favourite disney movie. It is about discrimination. The movie follows Judy Hopps, a small lovely bunny who dreams of being a police officer. Everyone tells her she can’t do it because she’s a bunny. Hopps does become a police officer, but faces similar challenges within the police force.  Discrimination is also shown against the predators in Zootopia. The police and the residents of Zootopia begin to live in fear of the predators just because of a few bad predators. Some of the predators are even removed from their jobs, and one of them is Nick Wilde, the fox. When Judy and Nick met each other, they work together to face the discriminations and solve the problems.

I decided to draw Judy and Nick because their characters indicate inequality. Judy is very bright and bubbly, while Nick is mischievous and cocky. Besides that, the discrimination faced by Nick and Judy is all a metaphor for our world. So often people face discrimination for who they are. We see it everyday in racial profiling by the police, and in the way people attack others for their religious beliefs. These problems also indicate inequality in human life.

Final Outcome

I use the Goodnotes app to do this design. First I sketch the outlines, then complete the design by coloring it. Lastly, I added the characters’ name. I use the contrast design principle for this design.

Feedback and Reflection
From the consultation, the lecturer said that the design is cute and she approved my design. This assignment gave me more knowledge about inequalities, which can be interpreted into different situations. I also enjoy designing this artwork and i am satisfied with the final outcome. Thank you to the lecturer for giving feedbacks and advices for my design. Cheers to this last assignment completed in semester one!
