Assignment 2 : Basic Fitted Garment (top & skirt)

FINAL PATTERN

After making the pattern on mahjong paper and moved it on box board, I create the final pattern. (I have uploaded the master pattern and pattern on box board on different post).

Final Pattern are produced using the box board that is drafted on mahjong paper. After that we need to add the seam allowances

neck line : 1 cm

shoulder : 1 cm

arm hole : 1 cm

side seams : 2 cm

hem : 3 cm

centre front : 2 cm (+3 cm for buttons)

waist line : 1 cm

side seams : 2 cm

hem : 3 cm

centre back : 2 cm (to sew the zipper)

PATTERN LAYOUT ON FABRIC

Below is the pattern layout for the shirt and skirt.

For the shirt we need 2 pieces of stand collar and actual collar, 1 piece of back bodice which is cut by folding the fabric, 2 pieces of front bodice, and 2 pieces for the sleeves.

For the skirt we need 2 pieces of back side and 1 piece for the front side which is cut by folding the fabric. I am sorry that I forgot to take pictures for bodice and sleeve. Instead, I’m using the final pattern for this layout.

WORKING PROGRESS

First of all, I overlock all of the bodice pieces except the neck line and the opening side. After that, I sew all the darts, sew front and back bodice together, then sew the opening side for the buttons.

For the sleeves, I overlock all sides and sew the sides together. Then, I attach the sleeves to the shirt.

Next, I sew the actual collar as well as the stand collar together and attach the collar to the neck line of the shirt.

For the skirt, first I sew all the darts, then all the side seams together.

After that, I sew the invisible zip to connect the back sides of the skirt and sew the rest of side seams bellow the zipper.

Next, I cut the calico fabric for the waist band (2 pieces) which is 1 inch wide and the length is the measurement of the waist +3 cm. I sew the waist band and attach it to the skirt.
